Ingredients

For the doughnuts:

  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup plain yoghurt
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

For the sauces:

  • Kinder Bueno Sauce: Melted Kinder Bueno chocolate
  • Kinder White Sauce: Melted white chocolate
  • Oreo Sauce: Crushed Oreo cookies mixed with a bit of cream
  • Biscoff Sauce: Melted Biscoff spread
  • Ferrero Rocher Sauce: Melted Ferrero Rocher chocolate
  • Aero Mint Sauce: Melted Aero Mint chocolate
  • Snickers Sauce: Melted Snickers bars
  • Raffaello Sauce: Melted Raffaello candies
  • Strawberry Sauce: Strawberry puree
  • Sugar and Cinnamon: Mix of sugar and ground cinnamon

Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough:

  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the milk, yoghurt, egg, and melted butter.
  • Combine the wet and dry ingredients and mix until just combined. The dough will be sticky.

2. Shape the Doughnuts:

  • Dust your hands and a surface with flour. Scoop out small portions of dough and roll them into balls, about 1 inch in diameter.

3. Fry the Doughnuts:

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  • Carefully drop the dough balls into the hot oil, a few at a time. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes, turning them occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  • Remove the doughnuts with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

4. Prepare the Sauces:

  • Melt the chocolates and spreads in separate bowls using a microwave or double boiler.
  • Prepare the Oreo and cinnamon sugar coatings.

5. Coat the Doughnuts:

  • Dip the fried doughnuts into your choice of sauces or roll them in the sugar and cinnamon mixture.
  • For a final touch, you can drizzle additional sauce over the coated doughnuts.

6. Serve and Enjoy:

  • Arrange the coated doughnuts on a serving platter.
  • Enjoy your homemade BONBONS-style doughnuts fresh and warm!

Tips for Perfect Doughnuts

  • Make sure your oil is at the right temperature; too hot and the doughnuts will burn, too cool and they will absorb too much oil.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pot when frying. Fry the doughnuts in batches to maintain the oil temperature.
  • Get creative with the toppings and try mixing different sauces for unique flavour combinations.
